Frequently Asked Questions

Getting started

What is One Last Song?

One Last Song is a community for AI-generated music built around competition, discovery and collaboration. You can vote in tournaments, earn and spend points, build Progress, curate playlists, dig through The Crate, request detailed reviews in The Review Room and grow creative lineages in Song Tree.

Do I need an account?

Guests can browse much of the site. Sign in to vote, submit songs, Hot music, comment, earn or spend points, manage your profile, use The Review Room and Song Tree, and view your personal Progress.

What should I do first?

Start on Vote: listen to both songs in a battle and choose your favourite. New members begin with 50 points, so you can also enter an open tournament immediately.

Voting and battles

How does voting work?

Listen to each song for at least 45 seconds, then vote for the one you prefer. You can cast one vote per battle, cannot vote for your own entry, and each accepted vote earns 1 point.

Battle targets rise by round:

RoundVotes needed
Round 14
Round 25
Round 36
Round 47

A battle ends when a song reaches its target. Otherwise a round may remain open for up to 4 days. At the deadline, the higher score wins. If tied, the song that reached the tied score first advances; a 0–0 tie is decided by bracket position.

You can hide a battle from your own Vote feed and restore it later with Show hidden battles.

Points

What are points for?

Points are an in-app participation currency with no cash value. You can earn them through voting, tournament prizes, Listening Post rewards, Song Tree branches and other funded community activity.

You can spend points on tournament entries, Listening Post promotion, Listener Picks, Special or Remix Tournaments, Review Room feedback budgets and optional Song Tree branch rewards.

What are the main fixed amounts?

  • Normal tournament entry: 10 points
  • 4-song champion / runner-up: 10 / 2
  • 8-song champion / runner-up: 21 / 5
  • 16-song champion / runner-up: 32 / 12
  • Listening Post completion reward: 15
  • Listening Post promotion: 10
  • Listener Pick for 30 days: 5
  • Special or Remix Tournament: 15 / 30 / 60 for 4 / 8 / 16 songs
  • Valid Song Tree branch: +1 from One Last Song

Review Room rewards and optional Song Tree creator rewards are chosen by the song owner and reserved from their balance in advance.

Entering tournaments

What can I submit?

Submit AI-generated music that fits the tournament genre or brief and that you have the right to use. Unauthorised copyrighted songs, direct covers and recreations are not allowed.

The submission system supports Suno, Udio, YouTube, SoundCloud and Spotify links.

Standard genre tournaments use 4- and 8-song brackets. Champions Rumbles use 16. Special and Remix Tournaments can use 4, 8 or 16 songs.

Three parent genres now use separate standard competition streams:

  • Jazz & Blues: Jazz and Blues
  • Wildcard: Anything Goes, which accepts any song even if it fits another genre, and Anything Else, for songs that fit none of the other available genre categories
  • Electronic: Instrumental Electronic and Vocal Electronic. Instrumental tracks may use occasional non-lyrical vocal samples, textures, chops or effects; Vocal Electronic is for tracks where sung, rapped, spoken or other lyrical vocals are a significant part of the song.

Each stream has its own lobbies and numbering. For Progress, each pair is still combined under its parent Genre Standing.

Can I reuse, edit or withdraw a song?

Yes. From your profile, Submit Again creates a fresh eligible tournament entry while leaving the original unchanged; the normal entry cost applies.

You can edit the title and artist name of your own entry. You may withdraw an approved entry while its tournament is still in the lobby and receive the entry cost back. Withdrawal is unavailable once the tournament starts.

How does Masked Artist work?

Masked Artist is currently available. Turn on Submit Anonymously and upload an MP3 of up to 30 MB for private temporary playback during the tournament. Your identity and normal source details remain hidden until the tournament ends; the private copy is then deleted and the saved song link takes over. You can also choose Masked Artist when using Submit Again to enter an existing song in a new tournament.

Special and Remix Tournaments

A Special Tournament is a custom competition with your own title and brief. A Remix Tournament also includes a source track and remix brief. Both can be 4, 8 or 16 songs, with costs of 15, 30 or 60 points.

Briefs must be 20–500 characters, and Remix sources must use a supported music link. You can have up to 10 open or active Special Tournaments and 10 open or active Remix Tournaments at the same time; the two limits are counted separately.

Champions Rumbles

What is a Champions Rumble?

A Champions Rumble is a 16-song, four-round tournament made from songs that have already won championships. Songs are copied from their championship records, so owners pay no new entry fee. Normal 16-song voting targets, deadlines and prizes apply.

How do Genre and Global Rumbles differ?

They use separate queues:

  • Genre Rumble: a championship from a 4-, 8- or 16-song tournament in a specific genre creates an opportunity in that genre's queue.
  • Global Rumble: only a championship from a 16-song tournament creates a Global opportunity.

Wildcard counts as a specific genre. Any Genre does not create a Genre opportunity, although a 16-song Any Genre championship can still qualify for Global.

Jazz and Blues championships from the separate streams enter separate Jazz or Blues Genre queues. Older combined Jazz & Blues championships remain in a legacy combined queue.

The new Wildcard tracks still feed one combined Wildcard Genre Rumble queue, and the new Electronic tracks still feed one combined Electronic Genre Rumble queue.

A 16-song championship in a specific genre can create both one Genre opportunity and one Global opportunity. A Rumble winner is also a champion, so that 16-song win can create future opportunities under the same rules.

How are songs selected?

Each queue is ordered by when the championship was completed. A Rumble is created only when 16 valid selections are available, and eligibility is checked again immediately before creation.

A champion owner must have qualifying activity within the previous 45 days. Voting or making a genuine direct song submission counts. The activity cache is refreshed weekly from the previous 60 days, so very recent activity may not count until the next refresh.

The same member's same-titled song cannot appear twice in one Rumble or be selected again while an earlier copy is waiting in a lobby for that scope. Later duplicate opportunities remain queued for a future Rumble. Suspended accounts, excluded recordings and invalid championship records are also skipped.

Can I exclude a champion song?

Yes. From your profile, open Manage my Champions Rumble Songs and switch a recording between Eligible and Excluded.

Excluding it prevents new Genre and Global selections. It does not remove the song from a Rumble lobby it has already joined or from an active or completed Rumble. You can make it eligible again later.

The Review Room

What is The Review Room?

The Review Room is for detailed, non-competitive feedback. From the Songs section of your profile, list an eligible tournament or standalone song, choose points per review and a total budget, and the budget is reserved up front.

Use positive whole points. The budget must divide evenly by the review reward, can fund no more than 100 reviews, and is reserved in advance. A song can have only one active Review Room listing at a time.

How do reviews work?

A paid review must be at least 250 characters. You cannot review your own song, and each reviewer can earn the funded reward only once for that song. A completed review pays the advertised points immediately.

Each paid review also starts a flat discussion thread, so people can reply without consuming another paid slot.

The owner can close a listing at any time and unused reserved points are returned. Reviews can be reported; moderators can investigate, refund the owner where appropriate, warn reviewers or suspend Review Room reviewing access.

You can also add a standalone song to your profile specifically for review without entering it in a battle.

Song Tree

What is Song Tree?

Song Tree is a non-competitive map of creative influence. The owner can plant a song as a root. Other creators can choose Grow from this song and attach one of their own songs as a branch.

Branches can themselves receive branches. There is no voting, winner, elimination or deadline.

What relationships can I choose?

Inspired by, Remix, Sampled, Reworked, Continuation, Response or Other. You can also add a note explaining the connection.

Each branch has one direct parent inside that tree, and the same song cannot appear twice in the same tree. The ancestry trail shows the route back to the root; Tree View shows the wider lineage.

Do branches earn points?

Yes. Every valid new branch earns 1 point from One Last Song.

The owner of any Song Tree song can also offer an optional extra reward for a chosen number of its direct branches. The full commitment is reserved in advance. That creator-funded reward applies only to direct children, not later descendants. If it is fully claimed, the branch remains open and the standard 1-point reward continues.

You may branch from your own song or another member's song, provided the new branch song belongs to you.

Progress, badges and ranks

Progress is separate from your spendable points and is recalculated daily. Review Room and Song Tree rewards change your points balance but do not currently have their own Progress badges.

What are the badge thresholds?

A 4-song championship is worth 1 Champion Point, an 8-song championship 2, and a 16-song championship 4. Champion Points are not spendable points. Reused entries and automatically created Rumble entries do not count as new Entrant submissions.

How do Genre Standing and Polymath work?

Both accepted votes and direct approved entries are required in each genre:

TierVotesEntries
Bronze101
Silver303
Gold606
Platinum12012
Double Platinum25025
Diamond50050

Jazz and Blues activity contributes to the combined Jazz & Blues standing. Anything Goes and Anything Else both contribute to Wildcard, while Instrumental Electronic and Vocal Electronic both contribute to Electronic.

Polymath rewards breadth: Bronze requires Bronze in 2 genres; Silver requires Bronze in 4; Gold requires Silver in 4; Platinum requires Silver in 6; Double Platinum requires Gold in 6; and Diamond requires Gold in 8.

Career ranks run from Unsigned Act → Local Act → Support Act → Club Headliner → Festival Act → Breakthrough Act → Major Act → Headliner → Superstar → Legend. Each higher rank also requires the earlier rank. Open Progress for your exact next-rank checklist, recognition dates and nearest achievements.

Your profile shows a compact summary. Full Progress is private by default unless you enable Show Full Progress Publicly.

Discovery: Hots, Listening Post and The Crate

What does Hot mean?

Hot shows support for another member's song. You cannot Hot your own entry. Hots affect discovery but do not add tournament votes.

How does Listening Post work?

Members create five-song playlists from eligible songs. A completed playlist can be promoted for 10 points for 7 days. You may have up to 5 paid promotions active at once.

On an eligible promoted playlist, listen to all five songs for 2 minutes each and select Collect Reward for 15 points. You cannot claim from your own playlist or one containing your own submission. Paid promotions can fund up to 20 listener rewards, and each listener can collect up to 20 Listening Post rewards per UTC day.

If there are no paid promotions, the site can feature free daily fallback playlists for discovery; these do not offer the paid reward or Curator progress.

What is The Crate?

The Crate is the daily discovery mix that replaced One Last Radio. It can contain up to 25 eligible playable songs, targeted as:

  • 10 strong Hots from the last 30 days
  • 5 all-time Hot favourites
  • 5 recent champions from the last 90 days
  • 5 active Listener Picks

Underfilled categories can be backfilled from strong Hot candidates. Creators can open Manage my Crate songs from their profile to test or replace playback links or opt songs out.

A Listener Pick costs 5 points for 30 days and places an eligible playable song in The Crate's Listener Pick pool. It may be your own song or one you have Hotted. It does not guarantee daily inclusion.

Community and account

Signed-in members can comment on songs, battles, tournaments and Listening Post playlists, reply to discussions, mention members and react with Thanks, Agree or LOL where available. Profiles also have Praise Walls.

Your profile lets you manage your username, avatar, bio and creator links; songs and results; standalone songs; Review Room listings; Song Trees; Crate song links and opt-outs; Hotted songs; notification settings; public Progress visibility; and Champions Rumble song eligibility.

Notifications can cover battle and tournament results, comments, replies, mentions, playlist activity, Review Room activity, direct Song Tree branches and Progress achievements. Wider broadcasts are limited to members who meet the site's active-user criteria.

Use Help & Feedback for an Issue, Question or Idea. The Weekly Report summarises community activity and keeps an archive of earlier reports.
